the court of swords

This family is about “practical” Magic and thinking with the human brain. They communicate the truth, whether harsh at times and they’re constantly battling whether they’ll wield their sword for good or otherwise. The Page is ready to manifest something and is crystal clear on a plan of action, but might be overthinking things to the point of not just standing ready, but also standing “still”. The Knight is raring to go and barges ahead into a project or problem. Although the Knight is logical, the will might be too forceful at times, too head on for some people. The Queen is supportive, but knows the score and the independence and this steadfast resolve allows Queen to dispense advice without sugar coating it. The King is big on talking about and discussing all past lessons so he can be a guide to how to properly wield such swords (of power). He is ready to share what knowledge he can and can communicate it to serve everyone.

This video series is my own personal perspective of each card and as a Tarot reader, I see different things in the cards for each client. I'm only speaking for myself and these videos are intended to be positive and show my love of the Tarot (in under a minute). Enjoy!

TEN of swords

This card is about the end of our self-punishment (and putting an end to the hits we take from the outside). It’s time to put the sword down and stop. It’s time to heal. Give yourself permission to not take one more sword  (for others or for yourself). Sometimes we fall all the way down to the bottom before we can get back up again. Like a battery that you allow to get to almost zero so it has the greatest charge once you plug it into the wall. It’s not fun to be in the 10 of Swords, but the best thing we can do is take care of ourselves (and others!) while we go through it and recognize it for what it is. Transition, transformation and rebirth on a deeper level than ever before. It’s about being wide awake. It’s been hard to convey such deepness of the Tarot in one minute videos (one to go!). Thank you for watching.

The visual of this card is spot on in conveying the anxiety, worry, nightmares and living in uncertainty. It’s that place we find ourselves at 2:24 in the morning when we either can’t sleep or we wake up and feel alone, uncertain and in total darkness. Sometimes it’s temporary when problems arise that seem unsolvable and sometimes it lasts a while until we ask for help. It’s about being in the dark but also immersed in our own controlled darkness. Like the 8 of Swords, it’s often a state of mind that only we can change. It’s an illusion and we can’t see the doorway reality and that we can solve this. We feel the weight of the world (of the swords) amplifying what’s really going on. During these times I say out loud, "It's going to be okay".

We’re often in a place where we feel like we’re trapped and there’s no way out. But it’s often an illusion and we just need to “see” that there’s a way and find that way out for ourselves. We often feel the victim or think we need to stay in this isolating, dark place because we think that we’re not worthy of the light. But we are and when we see that, we can take off the blindfold and wiggle out of the loose bindings and step out into the water in front of us where things become clear. We can get back to our intuition and back into the life around us. It was never a full circle of swords trapping us after all. It was mostly ourselves and how we tell ourselves sometimes that we need to stay put and deal with things just as they are. If things don’t feel good, we need to keep expanding and moving towards something that does. We need to keep our eyes wide open and our bodies free to move & grow.

seven of swords

I differ from the more common explanation regarding this card. I see it as a card of peace, of preempting a violent battle by stealing the swords of those about to hurt each other or take lives. Yes, this person is still doing something in secret, something clandestine and they have to be sneaky, but they are doing it because they feel it’s the best way to save the most. They’re leaving behind a couple swords because they can’t carry the weight of all seven swords alone. They can’t solve the entire problem and stop the battles forever, but their only concern is stopping the battle today. I call it the “crusader” card. Trying to constantly keep something or someone safe (like your dog or your child). It often goes unnoticed, the amount of effort behind the scenes keeping harmful things out of the way of someone you love. A little bit Robin Hood and definitely erring on the side of good intentions.
